Every Life is Valuable - Stand With Us
At Revive Church, we deeply care about the decisions made in Parliament and are grateful to live in a democracy where we can express our concerns.
On November 11th, the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill was introduced to the UK Parliament. This legislation proposes legalising assisted dying for terminally ill adults in England and Wales, allowing them the option to end their lives under specific circumstances.
As a church, we believe that every human life is deeply valuable because we are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27). We are called to love our neighbours as ourselves (Luke 10:27) and to speak up for the vulnerable and those in need (Proverbs 31:9). We hold that every individual’s presence in the world is significant and that Parliament should focus on protecting those who are vulnerable rather than enabling premature death.
We have serious concerns that this bill undermines the value of life and lacks sufficient safeguards to protect those who may be coerced into making such a decision. Instead of legalising assisted dying, we believe the priority should be to enhance palliative care, providing dignity and compassionate support to those nearing the end of life. True compassion means walking with those who suffer, seeking to alleviate their pain without ending their lives.
The leadership team at Revive Church opposes this bill and has written to Parliament urging MPs to vote against it at its second reading. We encourage you, as members of our church community, to join us in prayer. If you share our concerns, we also encourage you to write to your MP.
