There is something about encountering the King, King Jesus, that sends us to our knees in awe and reverence.
Repentance gets a bad rap. We think of it as regret and loathing and grovelling for forgiveness, it is more than that, and I believe its key in our lives.
Metanoia the word used for the repentance called for throughout the bible is a summons to an absolute and ultimate unconditional surrender to God as sovereign. Though it includes sorrow and regret, it is more than that. It is a call of conversion, for change, it means a complete 180 turn towards God.
It is the turning away from self-love, self-trust, self-assertion to obedient trust and self-commitment to live for God and His purposes.
Its an intentional change of mind and turning away from actions, attitudes etc that aren’t God’s way, and turning towards God – so today as you pray and go about your day consider:
- Areas in your life that you may want to do a 180 turn and turn towards God
- In those areas let’s pray to give them over to Him with the simple prayer
Jesus, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
