COVID-19 Response New Mills- Updated June 7th 2020

COVID-19 is disrupting our everyday ‘normal’ lives in ways we’ve not seen in a generation. Our response to this as the church is not one of fear, amidst the changes we can still live our lives of mission and purpose in response to God’s grace.

In Person Gathering Survey

After Jesus gave the great commission to make disciples of all nations he says this in Matt 28V20 And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

In the midst of what will undoubtedly be a testing time for all of us in varying ways, we want to encourage you to look for the opportunity disruption brings; To jump off the hamster wheels of life, to learn the unforced rhythms of grace, to model the early church seen in Acts, REAL authentic community (albeit via screens), day in day out, not simply a group of people who gather on a Sunday.

There will be an opportunity to look out for those without a voice, the oppressed, the poor, the hungry, the thirsty, the sick.

To be missional (the why), not model (the how) driven. To become prayers, proper – stand in the gap – intercessors crying out for the sick and isolated in our community. We don’t go to church, we ARE the church, here is an opportunity to really work out what that looks like without the comfort zone or tick box of Sunday services.

When we unveiled our SLOW strategy this isn’t quite what we had in mind however we want to encourage you all at this time.

Romans 12:9-13 New Living Translation (NLT)

9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection,[a] and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.[b] 12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

Government advice is to STAY AT HOME and for there to be no gatherings

NHS have further advice on this

The Assemblies of God have confirmed this means that as a church we are unable to gather together in our usual ways.

As a result we want to make you aware of the following:

Sunday Services & Programmes

Sunday services & all Church facilitated gatherings of any size will NOT be taking place.

Sundays thereafter: There will be an Online message provided via our Online Church platform – This will take place at 10am on Sunday mornings. There will also be a service sheet for those unable to get online available at Revive Coffee shop, or on request.

Sunday Kids Team: We will be providing families with resources they can use to engage their children in worship and getting to know God more.

Revive Coffee Shop, Connect Groups, Men’s Breakfast, Kids Life, Fuse, Stay and Play, CAP, Creative Team, Freedom In Christ, Youth Alpha & ENABLE meetings will all be postponed until further notice, in some instances we will look to facilitate an online gathering instead. If you choose to meet with others at this time, this will be the decision of the individuals, and not facilitated by Revive, as we must adhere to government guidelines.

We have an amazing group communication and collaboration tool called Microsoft Teams that we can give access to any group who requires it to video call, share documents, chat, plan, pray, work or encourage each other. Email

Let’s Celebrate, the Baptism Service, and Rose and Ben’s induction service will all be postponed until further notice.

Staying Connected

We would encourage you all to stay connected via phone calls, video calls and messages at this time. In regards to growth in your faith, now is a great opportunity to disciple ourselves, to grow in our walk with God and to grow in being a mature people of God who “self feed.” We want to encourage you to be pressing into Him at this time, and will provide resources to help you do so.

In time we will be looking to provide space for us to be able to share resources that have helped us, such as podcasts, preaches, worship songs and also personal stories, for now if you are in the Facebook members page, you can share it there, or in your various Church Whatsapp groups.

  • YouVersion is an online bible tool where you can do bible devotionals with other people or alone
  • Discovery Bible Study is a discipleship study which enables people to read the bible and discover what it has to say to them, it also encourages you to share what you are learning with others.

We will be sending out via email, social media and putting on our website:

  • Regular encouragements to pray
  • Regular devotionals,
  • Ways to help those in need.
  • Every Wednesday we will be looking to provide a video devotional to facilitate taking communion at home, so stock up on your grape juice and crackers! (no panic buying though please!) head over to

Supporting Those In Need

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[f] you were doing it to me!’ Matt 25:37-40

Firstly we want to encourage you to look out for the elderly, vulnerable and isolated living close by. Consider dropping your number in with those you know of who may need help with shopping or a phone call every now and again to keep them company.

Keep in contact with those you know who are living alone or are in isolation, encourage those you know are struggling spiritually, physically or mentally.

10 Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. Galatians 6:10 New Living Translation (NLT)

We want to ensure that we are aware of everyone in our church family who is self-isolating, or isolated due to location or family set up. If you are aware of someone who you feel needs additional support from us at this time, for any reason, please flag them up to so that we can ensure not one of us is forgotten at this time.

Pastorally, we will be asking those in the vicinity to look out for each other, rather than asking the pastoral team to support everybody. This is a whole church effort, we are family, one body many parts and we need you all! So we may contact you and ask you to support certain individuals in your area.

Guidance will follow on how to safely support those self-isolating.

We recognise for many of us this may be a trying time financially, the government are making some provisions which will be found at:

As you know at Revive we rely on the generosity of the body to operate and pay salaries, with you not being able to give on a Sunday we are making it possible for you to give online via the following link

We will be in contact soon.

Know that we are praying for you all.

Peter, Janice, Rose and Ben
