Psalm 34:13 “Keep your tongue from evil,
And your lips from speaking deceit.”
Each year comes with its crazes and fads. This year’s must have toy has been the fidget spinner, now available in all colours and sizes. As someone who fidgets a lot, I did have a go at one of these to see if they fulfilled my “fidget itch”, but sadly it wasn’t nearly as therapeutic as the fidget cube I was given a little while ago!
One of the other crazes of the year seems to be fake news! It is everywhere and even the main news carriers such as the BBC can get sucked into it. Sadly, fake news stories seem to proliferate on social media as people are so keen to share interesting or juicy stories without first checking the facts.
I would encourage everyone to check the facts before sharing any story via social media, or in person as surely the bible would classify such things as “gossip”.
I would also encourage everyone to follow the advice in Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
Let’s avoid fake news and half-truths and honour God with what we share and say! Be blessed to be a blessing in all things.
