I don’t know about you, but I love the James Bond films. In fact, anything with “secret agents” is a hit with me, I really love the “Bourne” films too, probably because I grew up watching “The Man from Uncle” and “The Saint” as a child in the late 70s, early 80s!
As a young boy, all I ever wanted was to one day be a “secret agent” and have that “license to kill”! Ok, maybe the killing part wasn’t appealing, but certainly the exciting life and fast cars was!
Obviously I grew up to be a teacher, then a Pastor, neither of which leads to fast cars or gadgets from Q. However, there is no life more exciting than one totally sold out to living on fire for God.
This month we are going to be hearing about the “Kingdom of God” and our role in it. I really believe that in order to be effective in fulfilling our calling both as individuals and as a church is to have a greater understanding of the Kingdom of God.
As we see from scripture. Jesus speaks frequently about the Kingdom of God, or the Kingdom of Heaven (used interchangeably) in scripture. He spoke many parables trying to explain it and taught us to pray for God’s Kingdom to come in “the Lord’s Prayer”.
What we need to realise is that we are His agents of change to manifest His Kingdom here in the earth. We are not called to be “secret agents”, but to live out our lives in full view of those in our community. Don’t be a secret agent, be an agent of change for God!
