Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
It’s dinner time!
Firstly, my apologies for showing you a picture of this delicious steak, especially if you are fasting! However, it is for a purpose!
My wonderful grandson is just starting to enjoy fruit puree, following on from a like of milk! He would look with interest at the steak in the photo and maybe even give it a meaningful suck, however he would not be able to eat, chew or digest it.
However, when we’re celebrating his 18th birthday, if we all tuck in to a big dinner and he’s still on milk and puree, it would be at best very strange and at worst very bad for him!
In the same way, we as believers need to understand that our discipleship walk requires us to feed ourselves on progressively more meaty chunks from the Word of God!
If we don’t take care of our spiritual nutrition and just depend on the Sunday meeting and an occasional mid week 2min prayer, we’re going to end up spiritually malnourished which could lead to our spiritual demise and death.
Whatever your aims are for this year, make sure that your discipleship walk is a priority in prayer, fasting, giving and building yourself up in the faith by reading God’s word.
Remember, we’re in a spiritual battle. Soldiers can’t march on an empty stomach, so make sure you’re filled with the word of God!
