This scripture really resonates with my heart and experience. We truly have lived through times when money was very sparse and at times I was that person in the queue at the supermarket checkout till where the card was rejected for not having enough funds. There were even times when my wife and I ate the children’s leftovers because we couldn’t afford to feed ourselves properly.
In those difficult times, it is essential to trust God and be thankful for what you have, whilst ensuring that you are doing all you can to fulfil what scripture says about giving and honouring God with your finances. That is the key to blessing.
There have also been times when we have had enough to fulfil our financial obligations, feed and clothe the family and even afford a small holiday. There have been times when we have had no car, and times when God has enabled us to miraculously bless others with funds to buy a vehicle.
I truly believe that we serve a God of abundance who calls us to go the extra mile and be blessed to be a blessing to others, to demonstrate His abundant love by being generous and going “the extra mile” in blessing others.
When we bless others way and beyond the minimum, God sees our heart and brings about a harvest for us. We sow seed into the lives of others whilst sowing see into our own future blessings.
2 Corinthians 9:10 says “Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,”
I have often heard people say “The church should do something about ……”, but we need to remember that we are the church! Maybe God has highlighted this need to you because he wants YOU to do something about it! God never manufactures money out of thin air, that is called “counterfeiting”. God uses the resources that are available in the earth, that’s you and me!
Why not pray this week about how you can be blessed to be a blessing to others. Make a habit of carrying some spare cash in your back pocket to give to others or bless others with a surprise gift. Go above and beyond your normal comfort level, go the extra mile to bless.
Be blessed to be a blessing!
