“Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him” Matt 2:2
I love some of the details of the nativity story, especially those surrounding the Magi. We know that they probably were not present at the stable scene (if it even was a stable!), but probably visited sometime later.
What strikes me about the Magi is that they saw the star and felt compelled to do something about it, to find this Christ-child and come to worship.
I don’t for one minute believe that the star was a hallucination that only they saw, but would have been something in the night sky visible to all, whether a comet or other phenomenon. What’s interesting is that whilst the Magi took notice and did something about it, everyone else ignored it and carried on with the business of life.
My challenge to you this Christmas is simple. Are you going to follow the challenge of the Magi and set a priority to come and worship Jesus this Christmas, or are you going to allow the business and busyness of Christmas to take your focus and time?
The Magi followed the star and discovered the living Christ, it would have changed their lives forever. Make time this Christmas to come and worship, you won’t be disappointed, it may even change your life forever!
