Are we there yet?

He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Isaiah 40:29-31

“Are we there yet?”  This is the phrase that drives many parents mad during the summer as we embark on long journeys to holiday destinations.  The truth is that waiting for good things is really hard.

The reality is though, that the best things are worth waiting for.  A pot noodle takes about 3 mins to make, but cannot be compared to a hand crafted Chinese meal.

Sometimes we legitimately feel frustration at waiting for an answer to prayer, especially if it’s for a loved one, or a healing.  In the challenge of the waiting, lean into God and He will give you the strength and grace to keep praying and waiting faithfully for the breakthrough.

When you look through Scripture, you’ll see example after example after example of people who were chosen by God, close to him, who found themselves waiting.  Abraham, Moses, even the Apostle Paul are examples of this.  Nevertheless, God was faithful and brought them through to the place of blessing and answered prayer.

If you find yourself in the waiting zone this Summer, press into God for strength for the journey.  He who is faithful will give you the grace and patience to press through to victory!
